Obituary of Ralph E. Pleasic

Ralph E. Pleasic, a life long resident of Darien, passed away on Wednesday, November 9, 2005 at Gaylord Hospital in Wallingford, CT. Born November 17, 1917 in Darien, he was the son of the late Michael Pleasic and Helen Orosz Pleasic. He was 87. Mr. Pleasic joined the U.S. Postal Service in 1938 and was the Darien Postmaster from 1974 to 1980 when he retired. He was a Sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II and was stationed in China, Burma and India. Ralph was a long time member of the Darien Fire Department, a charter member of Darien V.F.W. Post #6933 and an active member of the Darien Senior Center. He is survived by one son, Ralph M. Pleasic of River Vale, NJ; two daughters, June M. Pleasic of Darien and Susan Pleasic-Williams of Clinton, CT; two brothers, Ambrose and Vincent Pleasic of Darien; one sister, Vera Asher of Trumbull, CT; and five grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Amelia Panucci Pleasic in 1999 and 11 brothers and sisters. Friends may call at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien on Sunday, November 13, 2005 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Thomas More R.C. Church, 374 Middlesex Road, Darien on Monday, November 14, 2005 at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery, Darien.
