Obituary of Nancy Francesconi

Nancy Francesconi, a resident of Darien, passed away on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 in Darien surrounded by her family. Born September 12, 1920 in Palermo, Sicily, she was the daughter of the late James and Antonina (Raiata) LoCicero. She was 94.
Nancy graduated from Stamford High School in 1938. She worked for the City of Stamford in the Legal Department and then retired after working in the Health Department. Nancy also worked for Westover Nurseries and Shick both in Stamford and for the FBI in New York during the beginning of World War II. She received a certificate of recognition from J. Edgar Hoover for service during the war. She worked for Pitney Bowes in Stamford in the 1940s and early 1950s.
Nancy was an active member of the Stamford Municipal Employees Association, including serving as an officer, a member of AARP and active member of the Darien Senior Center and even helped teach the Italian class.
Nancy came to the United States at the age of 3 in 1923 and lived in Stamford. She was a resident of Darien since 1947. Nancy and her husband, Orlando, built the house that she lived in for 67 years.
Nancy's other activities included singing in high school, church choir and the Italian Center Chorus. She was a parent volunteer with the Noroton Height Fire Department Fife and Drum Corps and the Stamford Police Athletic League Silver Falcons Color Guard.
She is survived by her four children, Lynn Francesconi Fieselmann and her husband, Ben, of Bridgewater, NJ; Jane McCamish and her husband, James, of Walnut Creek, CA; Ellen Konitshek and her husband, Dean, of El Cajon, CA; and Peter Francesconi and his wife, Cynthia, of Woodbury, CT. Nancy is also survived by five grandchildren, Daniel McCamish, Lisa McCamish Smith, Heidi Fieselmann, Benjamin Fieselmann and Krista Fieselmann and three great grandchildren, Micah McCamish, Matthew McCamish and Joel McCamish. Also surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Frances Amico, Miss Helen LoCicero and Mrs. Adeline Veneziano all of Stamford and one brother, James LoCicero of Columbia, SC.
Nancy was predeceased by her husband, Orlando Francesconi, on December 16, 2012.
The family will receive friends at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien on Monday, December 15, 2014 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at 10:30 AM at St. Thomas More R. C. Church, 374 Middlesex Road, Darien. Interment will follow at St. John Cemetery in Darien.
