Obituary of Nicholas B. Wood

Nicholas B. Wood, a long time resident of the Darien/Rowayton area, passed away on Friday, November 4, 2011 at Griffin Hospital in Derby, CT. Born July 8, 1931 in New York, he was the son of the late Mildred Carlisle Burgwin and Richardson King Wood. He was 80. Nicholas received a B.A. degree from Cornell University in 1952. He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a Connecticut Delegate to the White House Conference on Small Business in 1980. He was the author of 2 + 2 Almost Never Equals 4 in 1980. He was founder of his own business GW Scientific in 1995 where he dedicated many years of tireless research on his invention HeartWatch and predictive Heart Rate Variability software. He was also an avid painter and produced a number of works which brought enjoyment to his friends and family. He is survived by his children, John K. Wood of Santa Rosa, CA; Olivia M. Wood of Bethany, CT; Francesca A. Wood of Orange, CT and seven grandchildren; his former wife Sanko Kamiyama of Orange also survives. He was predeceased by his wife, Jane Sperry Anderson in 2003. A private service with military honors will be held at Union Cemetery in Rowayton.
