Obituary of Harriet May Lechak

Harriet May Lechak, a lifelong resident of Darien, passed away Monday October 17, 2011 at home. She was the daughter of the late Clarence and Edith Summerton. She was 84. Harriet was a graduate of Darien High school. She was a longtime employee of the Darien Probate Court before retiring. She was also a member of the AARP Darien Senior Center, Darien Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and a Former Board member with Darien Commission on Aging. Harriet was pre-deceased by her husband James Lechak in 1981. She is survived by three sons Phillip Lechak of Gettysburg PA, Edward Lechak of Wrentham, MA, Thomas Lechak of Simsbury, CT and one daughter Janet Nielsen of Naugatuck, CT. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was pre-deceased by three brothers Clarence, Oliver and Nelson Summerton. Calling hours will be held at the Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Rd., Darien, CT 06820 on Thursday Oct. 20, 2011 from 2:00PM to 5:00PM. A Graveside Service will be held Friday Oct. 21, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Spring Grove Cemetery in Darien.
