Obituary of Thomas Francis Lynch

Thomas Francis Lynch of New Canaan and St James, NC passed away peacefully on October 9, 2017. Born on February 20, 1932 in Stamford, CT he was the son of Catherine and William Lynch and the youngest of 6 children.
He was a St. Basils Prep graduate in 1949 and served in the U. S. Army from 1952-1956. Tom married Linda Cataldo of Darien in 1956 and worked many years for Yale and Towne in both Stamford and Charlotte, NC. After joining the Elmer T. Hebert Corporation, he opened his own company, Canaan Distributors Corporation, in 1978 what is now one of the leading door and hardware distributorships in the country.
He was an insightful entrepreneur with a fun loving personality and keen salesmanship skills. A life member and past President of the Norwalk Lions Club he received awards including the Melvin Jones Fellowship and Knights of the Blind. Tom's passions were billiards, table tennis, golf and vacationing at his favorite spot Simpson Bay, St. Maarten with his surviving long-time companion Gretchen Ross.
Tom enjoyed spending time with his five granddaughters Ashley, Charlotte, Bridget, Amber and Megan and his great granddaughter Addison. He is survived by his daughter Judith Mulloy (Dan) of Westport and son Stephen Lynch (Dawn) of New Canaan.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John R. C. Church, 1986 Post Road, Darien on Thursday, October 12, 2017 at 10:00 AM. Entombment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in New Canaan.
