Obituary of Claire L. Buchinskas

Claire L. Buchinskas, 90, passed away peacefully from a brief illness in the early morning of December 16, 2017. She was surrounded by her family. Born in 1927 to Michael and Susan Donnellan in Somerville, MA, she later lived in Cambridge, Lexington and West Falmouth. Claire was predeceased by her husband Edmund and daughter Karen. She will be missed dearly by daughters Karla Coe (Ken) and Marianne Forsythe (Wayne), her grandchildren Michael, Matthew, Claire and Aidan, and by her many friends at Waveny Care Center. Claire was a role model of compassion, wisdom, strength, optimism and gentle good humor. Her intellectual curiosity was admired by many and fed by a love of great literature and the arts, particularly opera. Perhaps these interests contributed to her unique ability to listen intently and understand the feelings and challenges of others. A special woman who made the world a better place each day, Claire will continue to inspire everyone who knew her. The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 21, 2017 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road Darien. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, December 22, 2017 at 11:00 AM at St. John R.C. Church, 1986 Post Road, Darien. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Rosies Place, a support center for homeless women (rosiesplace.org), or the Buzzards Bay Coalition for environmental protection (savebuzzardsbay.org).
