Dear Al, Lilia, and Michael: I just read with great sadness about the death of Filipa as I hoping to get in touch with you again. My sincere condolences on your loss. I have many happy memories of times with you and Filipa and of the wonderful relationship that you and she had. I've often though of Filipa's reaction to the half-gallon of ice cream that she went to serve me, Lee, and Brendan, only to realize that the container held just a small amount that was perfectly centered within. She immediately looked at you, Al, and said, "Oh, Al," to which you replied, "I just trimmed it." That and other memories remain with me. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Helen Powers

Dear Mr. Ingegno, Lilia, Michael and family, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. There are so many memories..., my mother and Mrs. Ingegno sitting in the back of the classroom at Packer during back to school night giggling like school girls...,the look on her face when Mr. Ingegno tried to introduce the idea of ROTC to Lilia and me..., the many wonderful meals around the table at your home in Park Slope...,the Christmas Eve parties...,and at all times, Mrs. Ingegno was so perfectly coiffed, yet so simple and elegant. I used to joke that I got all of my style from Lilia, but really it came from her. I was so taken with that small round table in your living room, the one with all of the photos in those jeweled frames, that I have one just like it in my home. Whenever people compliment me about the table in my living room, I tell them that I got the idea from this wonderful woman from Portugal, who happened to be the mother of one of my high school classmates. As a teenager, it was so nice to have a space to share my thoughts...so many heart to heart talks during the college years with both, Mr.and Mrs. Ingegno. I will never forget her voice and her welcoming hugs. My life was certainly richer because I knew Filipa Ingegno!

Our Dearest Al: Our hearts cannot express the sorrow we feel for you, Lilia, Katrina, Michael, John and the rest of the family. Our lives were certainly made better with Filipa in it. We are truly saddened by her departure from this world. May you all be comforted by the love and grace of God during your time of mourning. As always, you will be in our thoughts and prayers. Dear Al, Lilia, Katrina, John, Michael and the extended Ingegno and Temple families: It is with deep sadness that our family acknowledges the passing of Filipa, truly a woman of "old world" elegance. We will fondly remember her Portuguese sparkle and charm and the lively discussions we had with her in years past on many diverse topics-- Her Park Slope neighbors and holiday celebrations, Favorite cuisine, Fashion, Lisbon, The beach at Nazare', or Her interpretation of Al's powerful brush strokes and vibrant colors. She, too, was quite the artist, but quick to laud the talents of others, be it on canvas or in the kitchen! We are honored to have one of Filipa's lovely landscape paintings in our home, and will always treasure it.
