Obituary of Franciska "Gray" Vargha

Franciska "Gray" Vargha, a resident of Norwalk since 1969 passed away Saturday, October 11 surrounded by her family. She was born on December 9, 1930 in Bratislava, Slovakia. Mrs. Vargha escaped Hungary in 1956 during the Hungarian Revolution. After briefly living in Vienna, she emigrated to the United States and settled in Norwalk with her husband. Mrs. Vargha was employed by General Electric Credit Corporation for 25 years. She traveled, enjoyed opera, and was known for her exceptional cooking. Additionally, she spent endless weekends at her second home in Vermont. She was a loving wife, devoted mother and grandmother. She is survived by her husband Victor Vargha, daughter Christine Newkirk from Darien, grand-daughter Katherine Newkirk from New York City, two brothers and one sister. The family will receive friends and family at Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien on Saturday, October 18 from 11:30 AM 12:30 PM. A church service will follow at St. John Church, 1986 Post Road, Darien at 1:00 PM.
