Obituary of Chanel Dumont
Chanel P Dumont, 94, a veteran of WW ll, died peacefully on April 29th in Stamford, Ct after a brief illness. Born in Van Buren, ME on April 28, 1917 to Hubert and Anastasie Dumond. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Therese M. Dumont; his sons Daniel Dumont of Pendleton, OR; Paul (Fran) Dumont of Armonk NY; his daughter, Diane (Robert) McGrath of Norwalk CT; 12 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. He was predeceased by two daughters, Denise and Donna. He leaves a brother, Alyre, and two sisters, Germaine Aldrich and Ernestine Doucette.
In 1938, Shine went to work for the Henderson family as caretaker of their Darien estate, where he worked for over 50 years. During the summers, he worked for the family's girls camp, Camp Arcadia, in Casco, ME. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 3, 2011, at the Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien from 2 – 4 pm and from 6 – 8 pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at 11:00 am at St. John's Church, 1986 Post Road, Darien. Interment will follow in Willowbrook Cemetery in Westport, CT.
