Obituary of Mary Louise F. Kaptain

Mary Louise F. Kaptain passed away on February 20, 2014. She is survived by her two daughters, Kathleen Snowdon of Madison, CT and Jocelyn Kaptain of Washington, DC, as well as three grandchildren, Peter Snowdon of Minneapolis, MN, Ashley Snowdon of Cambridge, MA and Nicholas Snowdon of Chicago, IL, and a sister, Elizabeth Clark, of Syracuse, NY. Mrs. Kaptain was the wife of the late Stephen P. Kaptain. Mary Louise was born in Watertown, NY in 1919, but grew up in Great Neck, Long Island. She was the daughter of the late Roy K. Ferguson, Chairman of St. Regis Paper Company. Mrs. Kaptain attended the Principia in St. Louis. She married Stephen Kaptain in 1949 and after living in Texas, Mississippi, and Georgia, the couple settled in Jacksonville, FL. Mrs. Kaptain belonged to both the Ponta Vedra B.C., and the Timaquana C.C., and she was President of the Children's Museum. The family moved to Darien in 1965. They were long time members of the Wee Burn C.C., where Mrs. Kaptain was an avid bowler and bridge player. Mrs. Kaptain was also active in the DCA. Mrs. Kaptain last resided at the Atria, in Darien. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Luke's Episcopal Chapel, 1864 Post Road, Darien on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at 2:00 PM.
