Obituary of Theodore J. Swedock, Jr.
Theodore (Ted) J. Swedock, Jr., a resident of Darien, passed away on Monday, March 31, 2014 at home in Darien. Born on May 27, 1942 in Meriden, CT, he was the son of the late Theodore J. and Bernice R. (Myjak) Swedock. He was 71.
Ted grew up in Meriden, Connecticut and was drawn to New York - starting his career as a trader at Hoppin Watson, later Janney Montgomery Scott, and worked his way up to senior vice president. He eventually graduated from Wall Street to pension consulting and finished his career at Evaluation Associates in Norwalk, Connecticut.
Ted was an avid golfer from a young age and used the same putter he was given as a child until his last round. He loved to travel and was privileged to see the world and play the most beautiful golf courses and visit the most beautiful beaches, especially Spain and Eleuthera. He loved the outdoors and hunting in the Adirondacks, leading his men on their annual hunting trip thirty years in a row as of last year (with equal passion for Manero's steaks and bonfires as actually looking for deer). He loved to ski and loved to sail; to play pool and backgammon, and was undefeatable at gin rummy if you were ever so foolish as to wager. He was an incredibly generous person, always giving or helping whenever he could. He loved his friends and loved his family, and is equally loved in return. We will miss him very much.
He is survived by his wife, E. Kathryn Swedock of Darien and their children, Theodore (Todd) J. Swedock III of Darien and Elizabeth W. Swedock of Norwalk. He is also survived by siblings, Robert D. Swedock and spouse Jann Swedock of Woodbridge, VA and Kathleen R. Centrola and spouse Glenn Centola of Meriden, CT.
