Obituary of Dorothy Anne (Dot) Driscoll

Dorothy Anne (Dot) Driscoll, 50, of Darien, CT and won her seven year battle with cancer on December 19th and is resting peacefully. Dot was born on July 15, 1957 as the eldest child of the late John Driscoll and the late Nancy Rudolph. She is survived by her son, Dirk Heideklang of Darien, her brother, John H. Driscoll, Jr. and his wife, Nancy, of Glastonbury, CT and Mary Ellen Schwartz and her companion, Ed Grimes, of Rhinebeck, NY and her four nieces and nephews, John H. III, Kerry and Bridget Driscoll and Breahanna Schwartz. Her brother, Paul F. Driscoll, predeceased her. Dot will be remembered for the dedication and energy that she devoted to many causes, among them, the Lance Armstrong Foundation, the Darien Democratic Town Committee, the Darien Youth Commission and the Darien Advocates for Gifted Education. Dot was one of the two people chosen to represent Connecticut at the Lance Armstrong Foundation’s Livestrong Day in Washington, D.C. in 2006. Another of Dot’s passions was traveling. She had worked as a travel consultant which allowed her to often share her love of France and French culture with her clients. Dot was a 1981 graduate of the University of Connecticut. Her family will celebrate her life at 11 a.m. on January 5, 2008 at the Darien Community Association, 274 Middlesex Road in Darien. Burial will be a private service in East Falmouth, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dot’s memory to the Lance Armstrong Foundation, National Mail Processing Center, P. O. Box 6003, Albert Lea, MN 56007-6603.
