Sorry to hear about Uncle Joe passing. I was happy that I got to meet most of my cousins way back in 1959, the only vacation trip my Mom and Dad went on. I meet your Mom and Dad a few times when they came to St Louis. I enjoyed being around them. Love from my family and me, Your cousin Rick

My earliest recollection of your father, my uncle, was in the very early 50's. I would ride a train from New Haven down to Darien in the summer to spend several weeks with Aunt Jewel, Uncle Mac, and Cousin Billy. I vividly recall Uncle Johnny saying "let's go visit Uncle Joe and his new bride . . . she's a blond from St Louis". My recollections are of a large man, bigger than life, with a booming voice, and a young, pretty wife who immediately made you at home with lemonade and cookies. In fact, I even recall making cookies with Aunt Catherine, her sister, and, of course, Ma Berger. Uncle Joe introduced me to photography . . he gave me a small box camera, for which I am eternally grateful. My unofficial hobby is now photography, and I spend a great deal of time photographing the grandchildren at their school events. Thanks you, Uncle Joe. I always became excited when we would visit Buena Visa Street because I knew I would get a photography or golfing lesson. Or perhaps we would go for a ride in his big car. When I was getting ready to return home, your dad would call me aside, lecture me on being a good boy, helping at home, and studying in school; then, he would reach into his pocket and take out a dollar bill. "You be a good boy Skipper", he would say. "This is for you". As the years drew on, we went different ways and began our own families. I was really proud on the 24th of June in 1991 when Uncle Joe and Aunt Catherine attended my daughter's wedding in Annapolis. It was wonderful to see them dancing and socializing, within 30 minutes they knew everyone! And you know what, as your dad was leaving, he called me aside, and said "looks like you have studied hard, so here is your reward", and gave me a dollar. We will all miss Uncle Joe . . . . but we know that God is holding him in his hands, and God is smiling.

Bill, I'm so sorry to hear of the passing of your Dad. I have many fond memories of Joe. We had some great golf matches over the years. This is a real loss to the city of Stamford and the golf community at large. I will think about Joe the next time I tee it up. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Dear Lasko Family, So sorry to hear of Joe's passing, however, he is now in Heaven with his beloved Catherine. They were both very special people. Everything revolved around family and Church. Excellent examples of what is truly important in the crazy lives we lead today. Every Christmas I would look for the cross to be lit on the house. A simple reminder of the spiritual part of the holiday. I have several fond memories of your family, but my fondest are the ones from Halloween. Joe just loved to see the children and always had his container of change for them to take some as their treat. My children are grown but they still talk about this. So see his little acts of kindness and love of life will continue to live on through us. He truly is an inspiration. May your memories of happier times bring you comfort.

To the Lasko Family: My deepest sympathy for your loss. He was a wonderful man and I know he will be deeply missed by all. My last conversation with him was in July 2008 at the Darien Fire House after my father's (Albert Papsun) funeral. We were talking about his love of photography. May he rest in peace. His memory will live on through his photos and all your memories.

Sorry I did not get to see Uncle Joe much. My favorite memory of him was when he, Aunt Catherine, my mom and dad(Justin), my brother Justin(Judd)and I went to the St. Louis zoo and also had a picnic. This was before Joe and Catherine got married. See you on the other side someday Uncle Joe. With love to you all, Bob

To Bill, John, and the rest of the Lasko family. We share the sorrow of the passing of your beloved father. I have everlasting and fond memories of growing up on Buena Vista Street with the Lasko family. The happy and wonderfull enviornment that both your parents helped to create there made that neighborhood the best place to be a kid.
