Obituary of E. Randolph Dale
E. Randolph Dale died on Christmas Day, December 25, 2006, surrounded by his family. He had suffered from a long illness. Mr. Dale was a tax lawyer and author.
Born in Herrin, IL in 1915, he grew up in El Paso, TX. He graduated from the University of Texas with a B.A. and J.D. and was on the Law Review. He worked for 13 years at the Internal Revenue Service where he rose to Chief of the Reorganization Branch. After a brief stint on the legal staff of General Motors, he became a Partner at Chapman, Walsh & O’Connell in New York, and from 1959 to 1984 was a Partner at Hawkins, Delafield & Wood in New York. Subsequently, he was Of Counsel to Hutchinson, Price, Boyle and Brooks in Dallas. He was a Director of several companies and wrote numerous articles on tax matters.
Mr. Dale was a beloved father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Charline Vincent Dale; and his two daughters, Allyson Dale Samson of New York City and Kristan Dale Zimmermann of Old Greenwich, CT. He is also survived by two sons-in-law, Earl A. Samson III and Victor L. Zimmermann, as well as his five grandchildren; Victor Randolph Zimmermann, John Erwin Zimmerman, Lucy Dale Zimmermann, Henry Stringer Samson and Peter Dale Samson.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Noroton Presbyterian Chapel, 2011 Post Road, Darien on Saturday, January 6, 2007 at 2:00 PM. A private family interment will be held at Spring Grove Cemetery, Darien.
