Dear Linda, Lita and I were devastated beyond words at the news. We remember Betsy as such a sweet, loving girl, so much like Mike. I remember her so much as a such a smart, lovable little girl and she grew up to be as wonderful an adult. We are so sorry for your loss. It has been so hard for you recently, but I do believe in heaven and in God and I am sure Betsy, Mike, Senora and Senor are there together now looking over us. Not too long after we graduated from Wesleyan, during my first visit to San Francisco, Betsy and I drove to the beach. As the sun set, we sat on the damp cool sand, watched the birds, and talked for hours, laughing until our sides hurt about silly memories from college and sharing much more serious conversation about all that we hoped and feared about the future. It was a perfect day, and, it is how I wish to remember Betsy--lit by a pink and orange sunset, with both the future and the past spread out for her like a blanket. The world is a far better place because Betsy was a part of it, and I am a far better person for having known her. Linda, Amy, and Carly, you are in my thoughts. Love, Laurie

We are almost lifetime friends of Betsy Burton. We have been blessed by her touching our lives in so many ways as a child and an adult. We always had great respect for her ease of people skills-always greeting you with her big beautiful smile. One of her mottos was if someone does not have a smile, she would give them one of hers. Her rays of sunshine that she so easily emitted into so many lives young and old. We will sorely miss her and look forward to our meeting again. With special love, All The Luths

Linda, Amy and Carly, you have been in my thoughts and prayers every minute of the day. The childhood and grown-up memories shared with our families are such precious ones from dancing and singing to Neil Diamond to the many times Betsy would come over to swing with me in our backyard. She always looked people in the eye and expressed an interest in every word exchanged; she loved so much her niece and nephew as she had a fantastic connection with children. Her beautiful and contagious smile and laugh have made impressions on the lives she had touched throughout her life. Betsy is an angel in heaven now watching over you. With love, Christy

I was just a toddler during many of the occassions that the Luth\\\'s and Burton\\\'s shared together. Carly and I would spend hours playing the game \\\"Sorry\\\" and Betsy would check in on us regularly to make sure everything was going okay. She was such a caring person with a beautiful and warm heart, a trait that beamed from her and touched everyone she encountered. All of her characteristics are being refelcted on by her family, freinds and people that she touched through various stages of her life. She will continue to smile brightly and spread her kindness. I remember when June Moorehead, former principal at John F. Kennedy Elementary School told me that we were getting a new 2nd grade teacher. When Betsy came in, you could tell that she was the perfect person for that job. She always had a smile on her face, a genuine one. I was the school secretary there and I transferred about 9 years ago, but whenever I would think of her, I couldn't help but smile. It always made me feel good and it still does. Only now, I have a touch of sadness right after. I say "touch" because I know that she's at peace. She is there all the time for ALL of us now. I only wish I would've kept in touch with her after I left JFK. It just reminds me that we have to keep more in touch with our family and friends when we're apart. Just to let them know how we feel about them. Smiles really do last forever! Thank you for sharing her with us.

Betsy and I were classmates at the Wright Institute - and just missed overlapping during our undergraduate years at Wesleyan University as well - so we shared a common history, which gave us a sense of ready connection. We also shared a love of working with children and families, so this put us on a similar track in our graduate training years. But with Betsy, it was easy to feel quickly at ease. Upon first meeting Betsy, I was immediately drawn to her warm and welcoming presence - as described by so many others in her life, she had a smile that brightened a room, a ready laugh, an intuitive understanding of and empathy for those around her, and a sense of genuineness to her that was compelling and real. She was a natural therapist and I’m certain that she touched many, many lives in her work in the fields of psychology and education. I know that she touched mine, and I will miss her and the opportunity to know her more deeply. I offer my deepest condolences to her family and community.
