Obituary of Louis Persico, Sr.

Louis Persico, Sr., 84, of Stamford, passed away Sunday, August 26, 2012 in Greenwich Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Lou was born October 31, 1927 to Italian immigrants Mary Russo and Arthur Persico of Darien. He is survived by his loving wife, Millie, his four children, Louis Persico, Jr., Mary Mangarella, Tina Romaniello, and James Persico, and 9 grandchildren. He is predeceased by 1 grandchild. Lou is a Darien High School graduate, class of '45. Lou was a decorated soldier in both the U.S. Army and Navy. As a civilian, he worked for several years as grocery manager. Lou was a hard worker and it showed in all that he did. He took great pride in tending to his enormous vegetable garden and lawn. He would happily share his fresh vegetables with many who knew and loved him. He enjoyed spending time with his family, walking at Cove Island and was a past member of the Piedmont Club. He had an avid love of sports. He loved watching football, basketball, and golf. He especially loved watching the New York Giants, Notre Dame, the San Francisco Giants, UCONN, and PGA golf. Lou will be tremendously missed and always remembered with a smile on his face to all that knew him. The family will receive friends at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119Post Road, Darien on Friday, August 31, 2012 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be at Saint John R. C. Church, 1986 Post Road in Darien on Saturday, September 1, 2012 at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow with full military honors at Spring Grove Cemetery in Darien.
