Obituary of Victor Jacoby
Please share a memory of Victor to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Victor Jacoby passed away Friday, May 8. Victor was born on January 24, 1930 in Jersey City, NJ. He was the son of the late Jack and Cecilia Jacoby of Harrison, New York.
Victor was preceded in passing by his beloved wife of 62 years, Margaret "Miggs" Jacoby and his Son in Law Jeffrey Aarts.
Victor and Margaret Jacoby married on June 24, 1951. They resided in Pound Ridge, NY for over 50 years in the house that Victor built with his own two hands. Victor is survived by his three children: Karen of Pound Ridge, NY, Susan and Kevin Marks of Darien, CT and Jack Jacoby of Groton, CT, as well as four grandchildren: Michael and Peter Aarts, and Sarah and Justin Marks. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Victor's contributions to the town of Pound Ridge are numerous and plenty. He was a General Contractor for more than 30 years and many of the homes in Pound Ridge are a long-standing testament to his handiwork and craft. He spent time serving as the Chairman on the Board of Assessment Appeals for many years. He also served as the Fire Commissioner of Pound Ridge and was a member of the Lion's Club and the Open Space committee.
Victor's love of tennis began during his time served in the Army. He continued on to become an avid tennis player, playing through his early 80's. He served as the Pound Ridge Tennis Club Treasurer, just down the road from his home. Victor was an active member of the Chestnut Ridge Tennis Club, both on the court and off in the Tennis shop. He also loved to garden alongside his wife Miggs, who carefully minded his planting rows. Victor loved jazz and was often found sneaking M&Ms, Mallomars and lollipops to indulge his sweet tooth. His children and grandchildren brought him great joy, and he was always willing to lend an ear in an education decision or job venture. He will always be remembered as a man of few but carefully chosen words.
The Aarts and Marks family will hold a private burial. He will be laid to rest in Pound Ridge Cemetery alongside Miggs and Jeffrey. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Community Vocational Services 181 Boston Post Rd. Waterford, CT 06385. www.lawrencefuneralhome.com
