Obituary of Patricia Rose Ames Gricius

Patricia Rose Ames Gricius passed away on April 23, 2015, just shy of her 91st birthday. Her father, Pantaleone Froio emigrated alone to the US from Italy at 17. He became a policeman, and later a detective, in Brockton, Massachusetts where he met and married Mary Kay Ames. Patricia grew up in Brockton, graduated from Bridgewater State Teachers College in 1946 and taught school for 50 years in Japan, Massachusetts, Florida and California. She was an avid reader and traveler. Patricia greatly enjoyed conversing with people she met in her travels and was keenly interested in their life stories. She was a brave, independent and self-reliant woman; a true role model for future generations. Her beloved husband. Frederick Albert Gricius, passed away on his 90th birthday, October 8, 2014. She is survived by her only child, Mary Deirdre Neumann of Stamford, her treasured grandson James Christian Neumann and his lovely wife Sarah Brown Neumann and her cherished great granddaughters, Emma Rose and Abigail Katherine Neumann, all of Darien. The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 26, 2015 from 5:30 to 6:30 PM at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien. A Service will follow at 7:00 PM. Patricia will be laid to rest in Melrose Cemetery, Brockton, MA on Monday, April 27, 2015 at 11:30 AM. Rest in peace, dear Granny; you are in our hearts forever.
