Raymond W. Gilbert Jr., 90, passed away on December 29, 2018. Ray was born in Worcester, MA, the son of Raymond and Ruth Gilbert. After his marriage to Caroline Millay, he lived in Northboro, MA, Norwalk, CT, Cleveland, Ohio, Yarmouthport, MA, and Fairfield, CT.
He worked in specialty metals sales for Wyman-Gordon, was National Sales Manager for American Metal Climax, Inc., and continued in sales for The Rembar Co. after he retired to Cape Cod. He served as President of the Board of Directors for the Norwalk YMCA, was a Deacon and active volunteer at his churches in Norwalk and Cape Cod, was a Master Mason in the Scottish Rite for the Northern Masonic Lodge, and was a member of the Aleppo Shriners and Kentucky Colonels.
He was an avid woodworker who loved to create children's toys, rocking horses, and many other items that he donated to church fairs and shared with family members. He was an all around handyman who was always ready to lend a helping hand.
Ray was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who will be greatly missed by his three children, four grandchildren, and two great grandchildren, as well as his brother, sister, and friends. He was predeceased by his loving wife in January 2018.
