I remember visiting Aunt Passy and Uncle Sid in 1964, when I was 14 years old. She tried to teach me to knit -- took me to buy needles and yarn and got me started on an "easy" sweater pattern. I messed up the ribbing so many times that I was finally too embarrassed to bring it to her any longer, and whenever she asked how it was going, I would say "fine!" She was unfailingly kind and showed it here by not insisting that I show her the knitting I kept hidden in my room. A year later I did actually finish the sweater and thought of her all the time I knitted it.
