Obituary of John A. Sedlock

Please share a memory of John to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

John Anthony Sedlock, of Fairfield, Connecticut died at age 81 on July 4, 2022. With his beloved wife of 51 years, Eileen, and two children, Greg and Tasha, by his side, he passed away peacefully at Greenwich Hospital on one of his favorite holidays.

John is survived by his loving wife, Eileen, whom he met over 4th of July weekend 53 years ago on the Jersey Shore. Over these 53 years, they raised a family together and Eileen was John's biggest supporter and advocate until the end. In addition, John is survived by his daughter-in-law, Diane Sedlock, wife to Greg, and their three sons, Charlie, Tate and Reed who live in Darien, Connecticut. And by his son-in-law, Thomas Blair, husband to Tasha, and their two sons Lachlan and Sawyer who also live in Darien. John was a very proud grandfather of his five grandsons - always relishing opportunities to watch their sporting activities, performances and other pursuits. They all loved their "G-Dad" very much and appreciated his jokes, love of history and country, and the many life lessons he passed along to each of them.

John was born in Bloomfield, New Jersey and was the only child of John and Edna Sedlock. He joined the Navy after high school where he served as a Hospital Corpsman, 2nd Class at the US Naval Air Station in Norfolk, Virginia from 1958-1962. He earned his bachelor's degree in accounting from Upsala College and began his career as a CPA at PricewaterhouseCoopers. He later worked for the Rockefeller Group and Cushman & Wakefield, where he served as the firm's Chief Financial Officer. He was a member of the Cushman & Wakefield Board of Directors for 17 years as well as a member of the Executive Committee. Following a long career in corporate life, he served as Director of Finance and Administration for the non-profit organization, The Rainforest Alliance, before fully retiring to Bucks County, Pennsylvania.

John was a man who focused on the essentials of life: family, food and learning. He loved a good meal, a great story and a funny joke. He was a World War II history buff, never passing up an opportunity to read the latest history book or watch old war movies or documentaries. He was also an avid gardener, a passion he shared with Eileen and together they enjoyed tending to their flower gardens both in Bucks County and later in Fairfield, where they have lived for the past eight years.

A private service celebrating his life will be held later this year for immediate family at his beloved Jersey Shore.
