Dear Marian, Margie , Jean and family,
I’m so sad that I will not be able to be at your gathering tomorrow afternoon because you know Carol was one of my closest friends. We met in 1977 when we arrived in Darien and joined the League of Women Voters. Over the years we had hundreds of cups of coffee, conversations and shared many private thoughts. I will miss her enormously. Charles and I send sympathies to all of you. Ursula

Carol Davis was quite simply one of the most beautiful people I have ever known. She was nice to her very core. I grew up next door to the Davis' in Darien and have so many happy memories playing with her daughters, climbing her big beech tree and eating her raspberries in summer, in winter being mesmerized by the sweet little town she would build every year under the Christmas tree with a train and mirrored lakes with skaters! And of course she had absolutely the best laugh in the history of humanity. She is an inspiration and I love her very much. Mare, Marjorie, and Jean, I am sorry for your loss and your mother will be sorely missed. Big hugs to you all. With lots of love, Monica Bond

Our thoughts are with you as you remember Carol and celebrate her many accomplishments.
I met Carol through my work as a planner for the City of Norwalk and we shared many conversations on issues common to cities in southwestern Connecticut. She was always upbeat and insightful in her approach to addressing planning issues.
With love from all of us

I met Carol when I worked as GIS Assistant in Stamford CT. We had numerous common lunch breaks, she introduced me to kayaking in the sound, we went to a GIS class at NYU and she visited me in Berlin with her family. Unfortunately I went back to CT in order to meet her only once in 2007. Well I will always miss her and she will be a steady part of my reminiscences.
Thanks for your companionship
Peter

I worked closely with Carol for many years in Stamford. Although we agreed on almost everything, she brought added insights to the complexities of planning. Someone noted that she was a good "talker". I would add that she was a good and emphatic listener. We shared many interests: gardening, politics and above all our families. I could always count on Carol to be non-judgmental, which in this day and age is not easy.
At work, she took on the tasks of organizing and coordinating the 2002 Master Plan (award winning) with expertise and humility, not an easy task when dealing with two teams of consultants plus the local citizenry. Incidentally, it was the best Master Plan that I have ever worked on and much of the credit goes to Carol.
I recall a very long walk that Carol and I took years ago. We were meeting with the consultants on September 11th in lower Manhattan. Like many others , I will never forget that day. We ended up walking up to Grand Central past growing numbers of National Guardsmen as public transportation and taxis had stopped running Being together with Carol provided mutual support to both of us as we tried to comprehend that tragic day.
Carol--thanks for being you--we miss you.

Today my heart is heavy dear ones....heavy with the loss of someone so very special. ...from a generation that taught us so much. The most important lesson was the love of family and the absolute joy of gathering and making memories.
I always admired and loved Carol...just look at the smile on her face in this picture. THAT is the Carol that I remember and love. A strong woman with a sweet soul.
Until we meet again....thanks for the memories you made for us to treasure .
