Obituary of Lillian R. Giegerich

Lillian Ransco Giegerich (Lili) 94 (would be 95 on March 3), of Darien, CT, passed away peacefully on January 17 at her home in Darien.

Visitation will be held at Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien CT on January 27 from 4pm to 8pm. Funeral Mass will be held at St. John Church on January 28 at 11am with Father Quinlan officiating. Burial will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery.

Lili Dorothy Ransco was born to William Ransco Sr. and Viola Szulist Ransco on March 3, 1928. She went to high school at East Rochester and graduated in 1945. She was a drum majorette and even led her high school band in the Thanksgiving Parade in New York City. She was a homemaker and she adored her doggies Holly, Gigi, Mitzi and her grand-doggies Petunia and Harriet. She loved her home and all the birds, deer, foxes, chipmunks who visited there. She liked baking, fashion, interior design, gardens, travel, theatre, Vermont, and was involved in Friends of French Arts, Darien Community Center, Darien Country Club, and Convent of St. Birgitta.

She is survived by her daughter Joan Elizabeth Roney, nieces Judy Lenzi, Susan Kreyer, nephew Andrew Ransco, stepdaughters Brenda Giegerich and Marsha Torkleson, and their children Justin Torkleson, Bretton Torkelson, and Eloise Giegerich. Lillian loved her cousins Jimmy, Barbara, Bobby, Tommy, Raymond, Mark and the rest of her family and friends. She is preceded in death by her beloved son John Elliot Roney, her devoted husband Lester Giegerich, parents William and Viola Ransco, brother Will Ransco, sister Helen Rogoza and grandson Noah Nate Roney.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Convent of St. Birgitta https://www.bridgettines-usa.org/ as well as Anne Marie O'Malley and the O'Malley Care Girls: Maia, both Mariams, and Natalie.

A Luncheon will be held following the cemetery at the Country Club of Darien, 300 Mansfield Ave.
