Sylvia J. Vitti D'Ottavio, a resident of Darien for over 60 years, died peacefully in her home on Tuesday, February 21, 2023. She was 99. She is predeceased by her husband, Pio, and granddaughter, Teri Lee. She was born on December 6, 1923, in Port Chester, New York, to the late Mary and Caesar Vitti. Sylvia worked in the Darien School system for some years as a secretary before retiring and traveling with her husband, Pio, to many wonderful places. She loved being with her family, cooking, and baking.
In her earlier years, Sylvia was very active in The Fairfield County Children's Theater, The Troopers and also did volunteer work at St. Camilla's Health Center. Sylvia was also a member of St. John Church, where she volunteered with CCD classes and also sang in the church choir.
In her spare time, she took up Quilling, and she loved giving her Quilling as presents to family and friends. When not Quilling, Sylvia loved to read and do crossword puzzles and jigsaw puzzles.
Our sincere appreciation and gratitude to Constellation Hospice Care, Norwalk, Connecticut, and their wonderful nurses and health aide.
