Obituary of Vicki Lewis Nolan

Please share a memory of Vicki to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Vicki Lewis Nolan, 63, a long-time resident of Darien, Connecticut, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on February 24, 2023. Vicki was born on September 15, 1959, in Toledo, Ohio, the daughter of Richard T. Lewis and the late Nelaura O. Lewis ("Rusty"). She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Tim Nolan and their three children Tim Jr., Bobby and Katie, as well as her two sisters Kathy Heidt and Wendy Fuller. Vicki grew up in Riverside, Connecticut, attending Greenwich Country Day School and Greenwich High School. She graduated from the University of Vermont with a teaching degree in 1982 and began a lifetime career of teaching pre-school children in schools in Grosse Point Michigan, New Canaan and Darien, Connecticut. She was affectionately known as "Miss Vicki" to countless former students throughout the community, many of which are now adults with families of their own. She cherished time with her little friends who often stopped by the house to engage in crafts with Miss Vicki. Throughout her years in Darien, she was active in local school and charity organizations supporting the community. She particularly enjoyed volunteering for activities involving her children. When she retired from teaching, she joined the Garden Club of Darien and pursued her interest in gardening, floral arranging, and botanical arts, winning a number of ribbons over the years. Her greatest passion was making lifelong friends with her boundless energy, unlimited compassion, and infectious pursuit of fun. Vicki especially enjoyed skiing and long beach walks. She spent her summers at Crystal Lake in northern Michigan which was clearly her happy place. A memorial service will be held at the First Congregational Church of Darien, 14 Brookside Road, Darien, at 3:00 pm on Friday March 10th, which will be immediately followed by a reception at The Woodway Country Club, 540 Hoyt Street, in Darien. Attendees should feel free to wear colorful clothing to celebrate Vicki's life. There will also be a memorial service in Frankfort, Michigan this summer for her many Crystal Lake friends and family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Vicki's memory to the Garden Club of Darien, a member of the Garden Club of America, to benefit the GCD's Botanical Arts program (Garden Club of Darien, P.O. Box 3433, 264 Heights Rd. Darien, CT 06820, please note in memo line: Vicki Nolan).
