Obituary of Evelyn Marie Heath

Evelyn Marie Heath of Stamford, Ct, passed away suddenly but peacefully at home on June 14th, attended by her loving family. Evelyn Marie Swank Heath was born February 19, 1932, in Newark, Ohio to Charles H. Swank and Adeline Ziegler. Evelyn attended St. Francis de Sales elementary and secondary school in Newark, graduating in 1949. She graduated from St. Mary of the Springs College, now Ohio Dominican University, Columbus, Ohio, and Mt. Carmel Hospital School of Nursing, Columbus, Ohio, where she was employed as a clinical instructor. Following her marriage to Spencer Root Heath, they lived in Buffalo, and Detroit Michigan, before moving to Stamford in 1964. Evelyn was employed at The Stamford Hospital until 1967 as a surgical floor nurse. She then chose to stay home to care for their 4 children. Evelyn has been a visible and loved member of The Church of Saint Cecilia since moving to Stamford. Evelyn was also a member of the Hibernian Association of Stamford and served as secretary. More recently, Evelyn looked forward to the regularly attended monthly neighborhood Off the Vine Book Club gatherings where she had many friends. Evelyn loved sitting on her porch to greet all of her beloved neighbors. A daily walk would involve waiving to all who passed by. She knew their names and all of their dogs as well. The bird feeder always had to be filled, as a love for cardinals, and woodpeckers and all birds was evident. A visiting black squirrel came for chocolate treats. Surviving are brother David Swank and Kathy of Weeki Wache, Florida, and sister-in-law Carol Swank of Naples, Fl. There are 4 surviving children: Jean Katherine Cleland (Rich Chaco), Michael Spencer Heath (Evgin Heath), Anne Marie Heath (Robert Richard Little), Laura Diane Heath (Ron Giannotto). Also, Eleven grandchildren, Scott Cleland, Sean Cleland, Maria Carboni Drury, James Carboni, John Carboni, Brian Heath, Kelly Heath, Guven Heath, Insan Heath, Sarah Anne Hacker, Thomas Glen Hacker, and also Eleven Great Grandchildren. Evelyn was preceded in death by her Parents, husband Spencer Root Heath, brother Paul Swank of Virgnia Beach, VA, Donna Duty of Shreveport, LA, and sister Charlene Core of Reynoldsburg, Ohio. Calling Hours will be Held at the Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road Darien on Tuesday June 20th, from 5:00-8:00pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday June 21st, at The Church of Saint Cecilia at 10:30am. 1184 Newfield Avenue, Stamford. Clergy, Father John Connaughton, Pastor. Interment will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery, 124 Rock Rimmon Road, Stamford, followed by a reception. Details will be at the Church.
