Obituary of Philomena Gallo

Philomena M. Gallo, age 96, of Darien, beloved wife to the late Joseph Gallo, passed away on Saturday, July 1, 2023, at Stamford Hospital. Philomena was born in Brooklyn, NY, on August 17, 1926, to the late Pasquale and Rose Pepenella (Tomao).

Philomena worked as an Analyst for NY Life Insurance Company for 20 years.

Before moving to Connecticut, Philomena was extremely active at Good Shephard Church in Brooklyn. She was also active for many years at St. Thomas More Church in Darien, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister, and was also active at St. John Church in Darien. Philomena was an avid reader and a fantastic Italian cook, especially known for her Holiday cookies. She loved old black-and-white movies and was also a Rosary for Life supporter.

Philomena is survived by her three sons; Michael (Patricia) Gallo of Darien CT, John (Lenore) Gallo of Cranford, NJ, and Patrick (Nancy) Gallo of Katy, TX; 10 Grandchildren and 6 Great-Grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Joseph, Philomena was predeceased by her brother Frank Pepenella.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 9, 2023, at the Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Rd. Darien from 2:00 PM-6:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July 10, 2023, at St. Thomas More Church 374 Middlesex Rd. in Darien at 10:30 AM. The burial will take place at St. John Cemetery in Queens, NY.
