Obituary of Matthew Friend Byrne

Matthew Friend Byrne, 35, passed away unexpectedly on July 24th, 2023, at his home in Bridgeport, CT. He was a 2007 graduate of Darien High School as well as a 2011 honors graduate of New England College in New Hampshire. Matthew was a huge sports aficionado. He loved playing, as well as watching sports. One of his joys was playing and teaching his son, Brody, basketball, baseball, and football. Matthew had a love of history and will always be remembered for his great speaking voice and his fabulous head of hair. He was a Sales Associate for Intuit Inc. Prior to Intuit, he held positions at ESPN and Shared Services Inc. as well as his own company, MFB Commodities. Matthew is survived by his son Brody, his loving parents, Sheila and Robert Byrne, his brother, Geoffrey of Darien and his sister Laura (Eli) VanFleet and niece, Leah Grace, of North Carolina. He is also survived by several loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. A funeral mass will be held at St. Thomas More Church 374 Middlesex Rd in Darien, CT on Friday, July 28th at 10:30am followed by the burial at Fountain Hill Cemetery in Deep River, CT.
