Obituary of Joan Andersen Lang

Joan A. Lang, a longtime resident of Darien, CT died peacefully on August 21 at the Maplewood Assisted Living Center.

She was born on November 10, 1932 in Stamford, CT to the late Elsie and Harry Andersen. The Andersen's were from Denmark and Joan, throughout her life, had close ties with her Danish cousins. In 1959 she married William Lang who predeceased her in 1966.

Joan enjoyed a long and successful career as a legal secretary. For over 40 years she was the executive secretary and office manager for Attorney Robert McAnerney in Darien. Joan was a consummate professional whose organizational skills and serene demeanor were valued by lawyers and clients alike.

Joan is survived by her cousins in Denmark, as well as nieces and nephews in Ohio. Her family gives special thanks to her colleague and friend, Nancy Baker who organized and monitored her medical and hospice care in Connecticut over the last years.

Joan was a member of the United Methodist Church. Burial arrangements have been made by the Lawrence Funeral Home in Darien and a private memorial will be held at a later date.
