I was fortunate enough to work with Bob at Kearney for 20+ years. He started as my boss (a word Bob detested, but that's what he was), soon became my mentor, and ultimately one of my closest friends.
Bob taught me how to think analytically, how to communicate with clients, and how to carry myself as a professional at a global consulting firm. I owe so much of my professional life to Bob. And so do literally hundreds of my colleagues, many of whom have also contributed their thoughts in this book.
But ultimately the lessons I learned from Bob were deeper and more profound: through his example, I saw a man of integrity who never compromised his values. I saw a man who loved his family and friends, and in turn was loved and cherished by them.
I will treasure my memories of Bob - and will look forward to seeing him again someday. Until then, rest in peace my dear friend.

Bob was not only an outstanding consultant and role model – blessed with an extraordinary sharp mind and rhetorical talent.
Also a true partner, diligently standing up when needed. Never forget our joint negotiations days in the final buy-back process. of the firm from EDS. Without his impact, we would not have reached, what we finally achieved. Big thanks and rest in peace..

From the day I joined Kearney, Bob went above and beyond to ensure I was successful, He mentored, motivated, and inspired me to be my best in every situation. In retirement, Bob continued to be a friend and my connection to Kearny's rich history. His perspectives and stories provided me with rich insights that have shaped my development and success. I will mess him immensely but will never forget what he taught me.

Bob was a mentor to me as a new Partner when I joined the Firm. I believe he felt it was his duty to teach and mentor the next generation of leaders - that was just the kind of leader he was. High integrity, always willing to engage in a debate, opinionated, deeply personal, excellence driven. I will miss him and remember him.

I was a partner with Bob Byrne in the New York Office for Kearney during most of his twenty year career there. We were both direct entry partners, so we adapted to the Kearney culture and added some features of our own. In addition to doing our best to enhance Kearney’s reputation with its clients and competitors during its time with EDS and thereafter as a partner owned firm, we both tried to collaborate with fellow partners and be mentors for consultants and staff. Bob and I didn’t always agree, but we spent much time discussing our views openly and with good humor.
My most sincere sympathies to Sheila and her family, Tom Slaight

I warmly remember Bob’s passion, commitment and dedication to his family, his clients, the firm and his colleagues. While we lost touch over the years, I still fondly recall the many spirited discussions on so many topics we had in Bob’s NY corner office. Bob, thank you for your service to our country and for the legacy you leave at Kearney and with your colleagues.

Bob and I were colleagues at Kearney. First and foremost, he was a war hero. What he did in SE Asia is probably forever classified. While he never spoke about it in any detail, it was clear that what he did was remarkable. He was an awesome consultant. A smart and funny human being. He and I worked together on one client - someone insufferable - and I was always in admiration of his patience and resilience. I loved chatting with him about tea, and the proper art of brewing, something he picked up from his time in London. He and I would argue about the art form of brewing “wimpy English tea” vs. “strong Indian tea”. One of my lasting memories of him was at an EDS awards dinner for top performers, where he, I and a few others from Kearney were sitting just below the stage where the muckety mucks were giving their speeches. We chose to ignore all the festivities and instead had a grand old time drinking G&Ts and whooping it up, much to the displeasure of the then CEO of the firm. We all survived and thrived after that incident. I lost touch with Bob after I left Kearney and I regret that. He will always be a gentleman, a warrior and a scholar, and I am a better person for having spent time with him.

I had the opportunity to work with Bob first with Unilever and then with Hewlett Packard. Bob was an excellent management consultant, engagement manager, business developer and Trusted Advisor to our Clients. Bob was also fun to work with. His ‘tool box’ had many things that mine didn’t. We were a very good team. We extend our prayers and wishes, Bob Duffy

I've met Bob some 20 years ago, when we were both with Kearney, He came to South America for a couple of engagements, which were more fun and exciting because of him. We kept in touch while I was with the Firm but, regretfully, we lost contact after I left. The world is a little less colorful now that he is gone. My condolonces to the family. Rest in Peace, Bob.
