Obituary of Christian Scott Miller

Please share a memory of Christian to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Christian Scott Miller passed away peacefully surrounded by family at home in Darien, CT at the age of 64 on August 24th, 2024. Born August 6th, 1960 to Charles Scott and Elinor Backe Miller in New York City, he grew up in Darien. Christian attended Westminster School in Simsbury, CT (Class of '79) before attending the University of Vermont (Class of '83) where he met and proposed to the love of his life—Lynne—with whom he shared over 40 years of joy and adventure. Christian spent his youth cultivating lifelong passions in music, sport, and art. Music was a major part of Christian's life after picking up his first guitar in his teens. While in prep school, Christian and his band, Prism, played gigs all over New England and aboard the Lady Joan. He could often be found jamming out in the sunroom with family and friends on his cherished Gibson SG Custom. The mountains were very special to Christian. Countless weekends were spent trekking up to East Dorset, Vermont to ski, hike, and swim in the ponds and rivers. Christian and his family spent many winter vacations in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, at Elinor (Mor Mor) and Scott's (Grampa) house skiing the extreme elevations and searching for fresh tracks. Christian also loved spending time on the water—on boats in the Long Island Sound with friends, at Wee Burn Country Club where he was a lifelong member, making extravagant sandcastles in Naples, FL at his grandparents' home and finding shark teeth and shells in Charleston, SC where he had planned to retire at his second home. Anyone who was lucky enough to cross paths with Christian would agree that he was truly one-of-a-kind. He flowed with creativity and passion—best represented by the wildly colorful and beautiful abstract paintings he created and that can be found in the homes and businesses of family and friends across the world. Most of all, Christian loved his family. He leaves behind his lovely wife and biggest advocate, Lynne, four amazing children, Caroline (Steve) Gahl, Craig (Hannah) Miller, Cameron (Remy) Miller, and Corey (Alina) Miller, three beautiful grandsons, John Ellis Della Vedova Miller, Theodore "Teddy" Charles Gahl, and James Christian Miller, loving parents Scott and Elinor, wonderful sister Sarah (Christopher) Haun, nephews Peter and Tucker, caring sister-in-law, Laurie (Michael) Sirois, mother-in-law Mary Katsaros, and countless amazing family and friends. Christian was pre-deceased by his courageous father-in-law, John Katsaros of Haverhill, MA—with whom he spent years publishing John's harrowing autobiography about his time as a POW in World War II entitled Code Burgundy: The Long Escape. A celebration of Christian's life will be held at Wee Burn Beach Club in Rowayton, CT on Thursday, October 3rd from 1 to 4pm ET.
