Obituary of Elizabeth Layda

Elizabeth (Betty) Layda, a resident of Darien since 1956, passed away Monday, October 6, 2014 at Brighton Gardens in Stamford. Born on December 31, 1917 in Stamford, she was the daughter of the late Ernest Ott and Rose (Bolsegar) Seidel. She was 96. Betty graduated from Stamford High School and was a longtime parishioner of St. John Episcopal Church in Stamford. She is survived by her three children, Deanna Raffaele and her husband Robert of Clearwater, FL; Betty Jane Conners and her husband Michael of Stamford, CT; and Gary Layda and his wife Linda of Nashville, TN. She is also survived by a daughter-in-law Patricia Layda of Canfield, OH; and 10 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Louis John Layda; a son Louis J. Layda and a sister Gretchen Betz. The family will receive friends at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien on Monday, October 13, 2014 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. A Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 AM at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Fairfield Memorial Park in Stamford, CT.
