Obituary of Lawrence C. Wood

Lawrence C. Wood, a resident of New Milford, CT since 1985, passed away unexpectedly and suddenly on Monday, September 15, 2014 at home. Born on February 4, 1948 in Hartford, CT, he was the son of the late Arthur and Mary (O'Connor) Wood. Lawrence was raised in Darien and graduated from Darien High School. He worked for Metro-North Railroad and retired at the age of 60. He was also a veteran of the Noroton Heights Fire Department. He is survived by his wife, Ellen Wood; three children, Kevin Wood of New Milford, CT; Melissa Wood and her fianc, Jason Linnell of Bethel, CT and Shannon Wood also of New Milford, CT; and one grandson, Riley Linnell. He is also survived by two brothers, Douglas Wood of Maryland and Brian Wood of Rowayton, CT. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Christopher Wood. The family will receive friends at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien on Sunday, September 21, 2014 from 3:00 to 6:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John R.C. Church, 1986 Post Road, Darien on Monday, September 22, 2014 at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery, Darien.
