Elizabeth was my very dear friend for almost 20 years ,living in the same community in Saint Augustine, Florida. We were both artists and shared much interest in art shows, and doing artwork. We enjoyed so many times together. I miss her very much and treasure the friendship we shared.

Elizabeth was one of the first friends I made upon moving to St. Augustine. She introduced herself as "Elizabeth" and when I heard some people calling her "Betty" I asked her which she preferred and she said "Elizabeth" and so it was. I knew her as a kindred artist at the St. Augustine Art Association where she entered shows and was a frequent Award winner. She also volunteered as a Docent. In addition, I would enjoy her company at the monthly Marsh Creek Ladies Luncheons. Being somewhat of a private. person, she begrudgingly allowed me to interview her for the Marsh Creek News Journal (no longer in publication), which helped me to get to know her better. When she moved we kept in touch only through Christmas cards. Dear Elizabeth you were truly a magnificent creation. May you rest in peace.

My cousin Elizabeth “Betty” Harmon was a great lady, a true family matriarch, as were her own mother, Lily, and her Aunt Josephine, with whom Betty shared a special friendship. She knew hardship and difficulty but never lost her sense of the finer things, nor her determination to make a better life for herself and her loved ones. She was a profile in courage and industry, becoming an established artist and interior designer.
In Joe, she was blessed with the ideal husband. He loved her dearly and greatly enjoyed her company. He supported Betty in her activities but, with his wry sense of humor, always kept her grounded. They were a great couple.
She was lots of fun to be with, and added life to any party. I
always looked forward to our encounters. She was great friends with my sister, Joan, and graciously hosted us both at their Marsh Creek home near St. Augustine and, before that, in Rowaton.
She was courageous in her final illness.
Peg, Jim, and Joanne, you have suffered a great loss, but your mother will live on in the example she set for you.
